Bioactive Components of Seaweed Eucheuma cottonii Potential as Antibacteria

Indonesian waters are rich in biological resources of seaweed, one which is seaweed Eucheuma cottonii. However, its use still limited for the process making various foods such as food thickeners, stabilizers and forming gels. Even though it's cottonii has a much more important role, namely containing bioactive components that can function antibacterials beneficial to human health. The aim this research identify potential an antibacterial. This method uses descriptive exploratory by collecting information from previous literature, both national international journals databases online like Researchgate, Google Scholar, Directory Open Access Journals. results study indicate active contains alkaloids, saponins, steroids, flavonoids, polyphenols soil antibacterial against gram-negative gram-positive bacteria E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans, Bacillus cereus, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio cholera Proteus mirabilis. In order effectively anti-bacterial, it better higher concentration extract.
